Mahindra & Mahindra has ramped up its game in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market, unveiling the Mahindra XEV 9e SUV alongside the BE 6e. These SUVs mark the debut of Mahindra’s two new sub-brands, XEV and BE, as the company expands its EV portfolio, which already includes the XUV400. Starting at ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mahindra XEV 9e promises a premium EV experience.

Deliveries are set to begin in February 2025, making the XEV 9e a key player in Mahindra’s strategy to reclaim its standing in the EV market.

Mahindra XEV 9e SUV Design

The Mahindra XEV 9e, built on the modular INGLO platform, boasts a cutting-edge design. Its triangular LED headlamps, sleek LED DRLs spanning the car’s width, and inverted L-shaped lighting give it a futuristic appeal. Key design highlights include:

• Premium Elements: Illuminated logo, piano black accents, and flush door handles.
• Aerodynamic Features: Specially designed 19-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels (optional 20-inch alloys).
• Dimensions: With a length of 4,790mm, it out-sizes the XUV700, offering a generous 2,775mm wheelbase and 207mm ground clearance.

Underpinned by the INGLO platform, the Mahindra XEV 9e offers two battery options:

• 59kWh Battery: MIDC range of 542km, real-world performance over 400km.
• 79kWh Battery: MIDC range of 656km, real-world performance exceeding 500km.

Fast-charging capabilities are impressive, with the larger battery charging from 20-80% in just 20 minutes using a 175kW DC charger. Standard charging options include:

• 11kW Charger: Full charge in 6-8 hours.
• 7.2kW Charger: Slightly slower, offering full capacity in 8.7-11.7 hours.

Mahindra XEV 9e SUV Performance

The Mahindra XEV 9e offers two motor configurations:

1. 59kWh Variant: 231hp and 380Nm of torque.
2. 79kWh Variant: 286hp, 380Nm of torque, and a 0-100kph sprint in just 6.8 seconds.

Its advanced brake-by-wire system ensures precise control, bringing the vehicle to a standstill from 100kph within 40 meters.
